Livabilities was founded by a family whose daughter has Angelman Syndrome. Individuals with Angelman Syndrome require constant supervision to keep them safe. Many are severely developmentally delayed and require support for their most basic needs. They have abnormal sleep patterns with a diminished need for sleep. Most are non-verbal and have limited forms of communication. They have unique behaviors of frequent laughter, smiling and a happy, excitable demeanor. They have an unsteady gait with ataxia and tremulous movements. Most have seizures. They also have an attraction and fascination with water and love to swim.  Individuals with Angelman Syndrome are very expressive and love to socialize. They have a full life expectancy.  As a parent ages, they need to know that their child with Angelman Syndrome will be cared for long after they are gone.  Finding a safe and loving living situation where the parent can help their child make the transition is incredibly important for the well being of the child and parent. We all want to know that our children are happy and safe.  This is the driving force behind Livabilities.
