Livabilities
Building Community for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Livabilities is committed to creating a nurturing and empowering environment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by designing homes and fostering community connections. At the heart of this initiative lies the construction of ADA-accessible homes tailored for 2-3 residents, providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive living experience.
The cornerstone of Livabilities’ mission is to provide physical spaces that meet the diverse needs of its residents. Each home will be thoughtfully equipped with features and layouts that adhere to ADA standards, ensuring accessibility for all. These small-scale residences will serve as comfortable and secure havens, offering 24-hour support to address the individual needs of each resident. By prioritizing safety, Livabilities creates an environment where independence and dignity can flourish.
Livabilities recognizes that a sense of belonging is vital to the well-being of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To this end, the project includes the development of a community center, which will act as the heart of the residential area. Here, residents can gather for social activities, workshops, and recreational events, cultivating friendships and shared experiences. The center will also host programs designed to enhance skills, promote creative expression, and encourage meaningful engagement with the wider community.
In addition to the homes and community center, the Livabilities property is strategically positioned next to the Laurie Fairgrounds, providing residents with opportunities to participate in local events and connect with their broader neighborhood. An added benefit is the nearby Westlake Aquatic Center, an indoor pool facility that will allow residents to enjoy therapeutic and recreational swimming activities year-round. These amenities ensure residents have access to enriching experiences that promote physical health, social interaction, and community involvement.
Livabilities’ success depends on the generosity and collaboration of donors, advocates, and community members. The fundraising campaign aims to raise capital needed to bring this vision to life. Contributions will directly support the construction of homes, the community center, and the development of shared spaces that prioritize safety, accessibility, and inclusion. Every donation is a step toward creating a vibrant and supportive community where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can thrive.

PHASE 1: LAND ACQUISITION- COMPLETED! We are excited to have purchased 16 acres in Laurie next to the Laurie Fairgrounds and the Westlake Aquatic Center. This site is perfect for the Livabilities Center with easy access to the city park and indoor pool.
PHASE 2: 501(c)(3) DESIGNATION- COMPLETED!
Our organization is exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and is classified as a public charity. EIN 86-1256983
PHASE 3: FUNDRAISING!
We ended our fiscal year on Aug 31, 2026 with $116,907.96! How exciting is that?!! We are so grateful to our donors for their support! We can’t wait to see what this next year brings!
